Dan is home, Job needed!!!!

I hope this is just temporary. dan had his interview with the folks at Mercedes, and is waiting for a reply. In the mean time it would appear that we are status quo. Patience dad, eventually they do leave home.

The Big Day

I CHECK THE bLOGGER EVERY DAY AND DECIDED THAT I MIGHT AS WELL WAIT TO POST THE GRADUATION PHOTOS. I guess we are all too busy to add something everyday. It does seem to have lost the momentum, but nevertheless, it is a great thing.
I love this shot of Dan and mom. You can sense the excitment and recognize the proud mom. The day was really nice and it was fantastic that Cami, her kids and Adam's family could all be there. I know it meant a lot to Dan. Thanks for being so supportive. More to come

Blogged Out?

Is everyone is blogged out or what? I know that people are doing things. I'm in Lund, Nevada right now. I'm on my way back home tomorrow, but the rest of the family is staying here until Saturday. Danny graduated and I thought that the pics we took there would be up, but they're not. Derek and his family are in Disney World. Cami and her kids are surely back from their trip to Wyoming and Colorado. So, am I the only one paying attention to the blog?

Here are our two hockey boys. This is Preston's 1st season and 1st game. He had two goals! Connor has been playing for a while now, but had a great game with two goals as well plus a 2 minute penalty for checking.

I figure that it's about time that someone puts something on the blog. Here are a couple of other pictures of my great boys on our trip to Steamboat. By the way, I haven't gone on a vacation in over a week now. Our next trip, we're going to Nevada on Saturday, March 25th after Danny's graduation.

Just in Case anyone was wondering

The above shots should be self explanitory as to why I pursued your Mother some 37+ years ago. Just in case they are not so obvious to you, try the following reasons:
1. Beautiful.
2. Fun.
3. Willing to do just about anything I suggested, in other words adventuresome. She is on a sled behind my motorcycle.
Just think tomorrow we will have been married for 37 years. Fortunately for you all, you only had to live with me for about 19 years each, but Nori being much tougher has endured twice that may years so far. Lucky me:)

I agree with Adam, if the baby is cute it can not be me. I am thinking somehow my mother got a picture of the wrong baby. There is nothing about the baby that looks like me.

Ethan's 5th Birthday

It has been a fun-filled birthday celebration since yesterday... the festivities continue tomorrow as we meet some of Ethan's friends at the Flap Jack Shack (pronounced "fleeyap jeeack sheeack" with the Michigander accent) for breakfast.

GeoTracks are the hit of the year, thanks to contributions from both sets of grandparents. Derek loves them as much as the boys... we need to get Luke his own remote controlled train because he chases Ethan and Reid's and tries to steal them.

Thanks for writing on Ethan's blog... he giggled out loud as he read your notes.

Things are really "warming up" here... we had highs in the upper 40's today and can see the grass after most of the snow has thawed, finally. We took a walk along the bay this evening and it was beautiful, with the sun shining.

I'd better sign off before Dr. Derek falls asleep... surgery is taking it out of him this week.

Back from a journey into outer darkness and the absence of intelligence.

First of all if you are planning to buy a good off road or vehicle for the snow, I would not recommend a Corvette. It may have traction control, but that simply means no traction is total control.
This trip is a novel, not a blog post. I could do an entire comic routine on old people in trailers in St. George, I think showing the Iraqi prisioners this as an option would bring them to their knees.
10 hours driving over was okay because it delayed my arrival. Besides the weather was good and I sang along to non stop satellite radio's oldies. Coming back was good for the first 8 hours because I was coming back. Sitting on the road in the snow going up to the Eisenhower tunnel was not so great, but hey, I was not in St. George. Nevertheless 15 hours start to finish for a total trip travel time of 25 hours on the road means I could have gone to Michigan to visit Ethan for his birthday. That is a lot of driving and Adam thinks driving to Fort Collins is to far to go for a visit, so it may be a motor virsion of the Ironman.
I will post a picture when my smile returns.

Okay, everyone, we're back online and we even have all of our old blogs. Notice on the sidebar there is a link that says "1st Grizzweaver Blog Site". Continue to make posts on this site, do not post on the old site, for continuity's sake. But you can click the link to look at the old blogs any time you wish. Sorry I don't know how to merge the two, or if it's even possible. I'm just grateful to "Samantha" at Blogger Support for recovering our old blogs from the cyber-trash can, wherever that is.

I've got to prepare for Ethan's birthday dinner-- his choice: Macaroni and Cheese, from the box. He informed me that he chose that because "on the box it says it's 'Macaroni and Cheese DINNER'". (We usually only make it for lunch.) I guess I can't argue with that logic.

We'll post photos from today's festivities in a little bit.

A new look....

Little, big Shelby is getting her way with her hair...maybe a little too early, but it was better than the perm she wanted! She got some highlights and a cute cut yesterday and wanted to show it off!

We only have one child!

I turned on the camera today to download some pictures...They were all of Alec...everyone~good thing he is so cute!

Grandpa heads to St. George

He's off in the red corvette and headed to see our favorite person!
Grandma Weaver's osteoporosis is getting the best of her with fractured
vertebra. She had a proceedure last Monday to kind of "glue" it together
but is still in a lot of pain. He went to visit plus to kind of assess her
situation. She's probably getting close to not being able to live alone.
She probably could live alone for a while yet if she had one of her kids
checking up on her regularly. In St. Geroge the nearest one is 2 hours
away. Anyone of you want her to come and live with you? :)

A "Get Well" card would probably be in order.

Surgery Stinks!

Well I just finished my first week of general surgery. I love the surgery part, but the hours are ridiculous. Friday morning I was up at 4:30 to exercise and to the hospital to round at 6:30, surgery from 7:15-5:00 then I was on call so at 8:30 I got paged and did surgery until 1:30am. Then I was up at 6:45 saturday morning and rounded on all 47 patients on the service for 5 hours. Please who are these guys. I don't see why anyone would subject themselves to this kind of torture. Call me lazy, but that is not worth it. Needless to say I am even more sure that I have picked the right fit for me; family medicine. Even though residency will be crazy I won't be having this kind of weekend the rest of my life. Viva periodontologia! This little guy thinks that he wants to be a surgeon because he was absolutely amazed that his daddy got to cut a lady's leg off on wednesday.

This beautiful woman was the key note speaker for the Fort Collins Women's conference today. Subject was a day of Service. Wish we could have been there, but we're sure it was fabulous.

Skiing in Steamboat

Well, I couldn't handle work. We arrived here in Steamboat yesterday and we're doing 2 full days of great skiing. We just finished our first day and it was terrific! Mia went to daycare and was the hit there, Adin did ski school and can't wait to do it again tomorrow. Connor and Preston skiied with Alyson and me all day. We had sunshine all day and great snow. We rented a condo with a pool and hot tub and we've just spent an hour doing that. Tomorrow will be even better because we've got a system now.

We're Back on the Blog

Sorry it took me this long to get back on to the blog.... I've been consumed with taxes this week. Just when I get the hang of it, something changes.... this year we make $13K (yes, that's THIRTEEN) and yet I have to figure out all of the rules regarding our "rental property"... we'll be audited for sure. Fred, I might be hitting you up for some advice.

It's been one week and I don't like being a "surgeon's" wife-- and Derek hasn't even been on-call yet. His scholarship that led him into primary care proves to be more of a blessing every day. I really like having him around and am having a hard time getting used to seeing him 2 hours a day.

Ethan and Reid are enjoying the outdoors, despite the cold. They bundle up and spend 1-2 hours every afternoon playing out in the snow with our neighbors. I avoid going out unless I have to... we're looking forward to coming to Colorado in June! Nick is marrying Jenna Holden, who is the younger sister of one of Nick's high school friends. We really liked her when we met her at Christmas and are thrilled about their engagement! Adam and Alyson, FYI, she's been the nanny for the Doctors Stone for the past few summers... I can't remember if you know them very well or not. Anyway, the wedding is June 9.

By the way, Fred, I read the article from 60 minutes about stem cell research and Battens... I hadn't responded yet because I couldn't decide what I thought of it. Derek and I discussed it that night. I guess I agree with Bush in not using federal money to fund such research because there are so many moral issues yet to be resolved, but I am grateful that private monies are being used to continue research. Would you have wanted your boys to have undergone that kind of experimental treatment? I'm not sure I could say that I would.

First tour for an old car

Mom and I went out off roading today. What a great day. This is up on old flowers road. Not in the Danny class, but lots of fun. Just need a V8.

Guatemala was Great

Well, the last time I was on the blog I had just arrived in Guatemala City. The last week was actually quite rewarding. Our group extracted 1600 teeth. It was very hard work. We worked from 7 am to 7 pm everyday. While the rest of the group went to Lake Atitlan for a two day trip, I went by myself to hike a volcano, it was great. There is no way to describe these trips. I would recommend it highly to everyone. We are extremely blessed.
