All Hail King Preston!

Sacrament meeting is a wrestling match for us Weaver's. So, we had a FHE on Monday night. We read a story about the "Wiggle-Waggles." Our family has been seriously infected with the "wiggle-waggles." We then showed the crown for the King of Me! This crown would be awarded every Sunday to the person that could conquer the "wiggle-waggles" during Sacrament meeting the best. Today was our trial run. We had Stake Conference (as did Mom and Dad) and it was a broadcast from SLC. 2 HOURS!! What a trial run. Preston took it totally to heart. From the minute we walked into the chapel he was scoping out his competition of Connor and Adin. He very quickly gained the lead over Adin. Adin had the "wiggle-waggles" given to him IV that morning I think. Connor was a little tougher competition. Connor dropped the ball when he decided to color and read the Friend during Elder Oaks talk. While Connor was very reverent he didn't realize what he was up against. Preston decided to go in for the kill. Instead of doing any coloring and just being quiet he decided it would be extremely hard to beat someone that actually folded his arms and listened to the ENTIRE conference. It was hard and during the last few sentences of President Monson's talk I thought he might give in, but he turned to me and said, "Dad, it has to be almost over isn't it?" I couldn't help but say, "Yes, buddy it is, but I think that you've got it in the bag!" Just then, Adin realized what I was talking about. He quickly folded his arms and said, "Dad, I think that I win the crown...look I'm folding my arms!" Connor then realized what was going on and said, "Wait a minute, I was by far the most reverent." Preston just looked at both of them with a smile and was still reverent when I said, "I'm sorry to both of you, but Preston is King today!" So what did King Preston get? Anything he wanted today. He wore the crown from the minute he got home from church until bedtime. He got the special plate and he got to choose whatever desert he wanted. We had brownie sundaes! I just hope that this can continue!

Spring in T.C.!

Spring is Here! You all have put up with our complaining about the oppressive winter that we've endured, so here is the evidence that we are indeed alive and well and thrilled that it's spring. This is the time of year that helps us to remember how much we love this town. We may not have the Colorado sunshine, but we have the Bay and lots and lots of trees.
Derek and I ran 20 miles along the bay yesterday (hooray! only one long run to go before the marathon) and marvelled at what an awesome part of the earth this is.
We felt like we were living a day in the life of Adam and Alyson when we literally ran in the front door, ran up the stairs, changed into clean clothes (no stretching, no shower) and ran back out the door to take Ethan to his first soccer game, only to run home, have a quick shower, and dash off to a birthday party for Ethan's friend. We did get to relax at home the rest of the evening-- it was a fantastic weekend!
Also, Derek and I started a "social dance" class Friday night at the community college, along with 4 other couples from our branch. We're looking forward to a great month of Friday-night dates--spring has brought us back to life! :)





I wouldn't normally post a photo of myself that looks like I have just wrestled 3 kids through church for three hours (which I did), but Luke just looks so cute in his little suit.

RE: MICROWEAVER FAMILY'S PLANS IN AUGUST: Sorry, we told everyone the wrong dates for our class reunion-- it is actually 8/18 and 8/19. So we are free 8/25-26.

101 USES FOR A BROKEN BAR-B-Q

A couple of weeks ago we noticed a bird flying in and out of of our Bar-b-Q on a regular basis. We lifted the lid and found the beginning phases of a nest inside. We then watched her fill the entire barbee with weeds and grass. Within a few days of finishing her home, we found seven little blue eggs. We checked on the eggs frequently for days...when we knew the mama wasn't home. Today as I thought of sharing our find with you, I noticed a wet spot on the deck floor behind the grill. I opened the lid and found it... empty. The wet spot was a fallen egg. The guilt has now set in. Was she moving because of us? Did she eat or destroy the eggs because of us? We never touched...only looked. My kids are crushed. Next week we are building a new deck and I worried (anyway) about a way to move the nest without disrupting the life, but now I guess I don't need to worry! Jason says "better her than us." Any way...exciting life in UTAH!

"Welcome to the Boston Marathon"

The fact that Derek qualified to run the Boston Marathon gave us a very good excuse to take an extended weekend vacation to a very cool city, to visit two of my high school and college friends, and, oh yeah, for Derek to run one of the world's most historic marathons!
The Expo. We went to the race expo in downtown Boston so that Derek could pick up his race packet and get the race paraphernalia.
The fans. Travelling with 3 little boys may have its challenges, but Derek always has a great cheering section.

Seeing the sights in Boston

There is so much to do in this city-- we were enchanted by it and can't wait to go back. We took a crash course in the history of the founding of the United States as we listened to David McCullough's 1776 book on CD on the 15-hour drive to Boston. The Boston Marathon is held on Patriot's Day, which is a HUGE holiday in Boston, and I assume all of Massachusetts. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to see very many of the historical sights, but we thoroughly enjoyed what we were able to do. Boston Common and the Public Garden.
I was thrilled about going to the Public Garden because just before Christmas, the boys and I read E.B. White's Trumpet of the Swan, a story in which Louis, the swan, gets a job working with the swan boats in the pond at the Public Garden, and lives in the Ritz Carlton across the street. Ethan and Reid were ecstatic about trying to find Louis, and it just so happened that we were there on the first day of the season for the swan boat rides (the unofficial indicator of Spring for Bostonians.)

A night on the town. We stayed with my friend from high school, Dana Slade (now Linder) and her husband Rob, and their three children, Avery, Audrey, and Carson. All 3 of them are within a month of our children's ages, so the kids had a great time playing together. Saturday evening, we got babysitters, and then Rob and Dana took us on a great tour of the city. Rob borrowed his brother-in-law's Porsche convertible (I mention this because it was a beautiful spring evening, and I want you to get the full, wind-blown effect as I describe the fantastic evening out) and we cruised through Cambridge, where we stopped to get this photo in front of Harvard's library, and then to the North End/ the Italian District of Boston so Derek could get his carbs for the race.
"Reason No. 1837: Because Less Than 1% of the World's Population Will Ever Run One." Derek was on the phone with Adam while we were waiting to get into Ristorante Villa Francesca when this taxi cab drove behind him. I noticed the Adidas advertisement for the marathon on top of the cab and had to take this shot-- nothing like fueling a little brotherly competition. (Sorry, Aly!)

The Old North Church. On Sunday evening we attended a "fife and drum" concert in front of the church made famous by Paul Revere's ride ("one if by land, two if by sea") to warn the patriots of the approaching British troops.

Race Day

The race didn't start until noon, so Derek left around 9:15 am.

Mile 3-- Ashland, MA. We first spotted Derek as we watched the race with the Linder family. (Reid, Avery, Ethan, Britt, Audrey, Rob, Luke, Carson.)
No, Ethan's sign is not backwards. On the reverse side it said "Run world, Run", which he held up for all of the other runners.Keep in mind that these photos are taken by a spectator who is watching not only the runners, but three small, mischevious boys as well. Actually, I was cheering for Derek while Rob took this shot (I think he was surprised at how fast Derek passed.) Derek is the runner behind the person in the red sweatshirt-- he's wearing a white hat and black shirt. Anyway, if you want better shots than this, you'll have to look at the marathon website.
Ethan was really dismayed that none of the runners wanted to stoop down to take the orange slice out of his hand.

Race Day Continued

Immediately after watching Derek at mile 3, I drove with the boys and met our other friends, Deric & Shelece and their twin babies, Berkley and Briggs to watch Derek at mile 19. (Shelece was my college roommate for 3 years.) Derek stopped to give Reid and me kisses (Ethan and Luke were sleeping in the car), which Shelece said caused her to get tears in her eyes. "He's such a good Dad!"

After Derek passed, we loaded up the 5 boys and ventured onto the train into the city. Ethan and Reid were excited about their first "real" train ride.

It wouldn't be a true family vacation if we didn't have a GrizzWeaver moment. One of our brand new tires blew out two hours into the drive home in Albany, NY. It delayed our trip 4 hours, but at least no one was hurt. And the boys were pretty excited about riding in the tow truck to the tire shop.
Boredom sets in, marathon runner places plastic easter eggs on his ears to liven things up.

What is Up?

For over 10 days we have not heard from the microweavers. Have you fallen off of the earth?

Miserably CUTE!

Alec topped the charts last night with a fever of 106.1. I have never had such a sick baby. I just went to check on him and could not resist taking this shot! Lots o love, little man!

NEWS FLASH...................

The phenomenal Dr. Derek Weaver completed the famous BOSTON MARATHON today in 3 hours and 36 minutes! At last check Dr. Weaver was resting comfortably in his hotel room while administering a refreshing IV solution to himself. Reports have it that the IV helps one recover from the fabulous fun-filled day of trying to kill oneself by running and running and running and running ..........well, you get the picture. The journey back to Traverse City begins tomorrow with all the micro Weaver's except the driver, Dr. Weaver lounging for hours watching DVD's borrowed from the local library. CONGRATULATIONS DR. WEAVER and you too Brittany for the fabulous job of tending all three kids alone while Daddy was running and running and running and running............................

Preston's a Purple Belt

Preston is in Tae-kwon do. He had a belt test on Friday and went from an orange belt to a purple belt. I was amazed. He has to memorize a whole string of moves and then break a board. Great job Preston!

'Women's Day of Service'
April 15, 2006 FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Some 250 women of the Fort Collins Colorado Stake gathered for "A Women's Day of Service" March 4. Women listened to a representative of the United Way speak on volunteering opportunities, and keynote speaker Nori Weaver spoke on the loving aid given her family by Respite Care in helping with two children with disabilities. The event included donating blood to the Larimer County Health Sytems and going to nursing homes to sing and help, and house cleaning for Respite Care.

Happy Easter

Tim just wanted all of you to really enjoy Easter. He came home with an Easter basket on his head and a egg headed doll stuffed in his straps. I am sure he would just love to know that at 25 years he can still wear a basket on his head.

CAMPING AND BOATING ANYONE?

Cami mentioned when she was here that it would be nice to take the kids to Glendo again. Been thinking about that.........I think I could make it for two nights in a tent:) How about the rest of you, is there a time when Derek and Brittany are here (need dates from you guys first) that we could go there for maybe three days? The kids would love it.

We heard, however that Glendo had to close Sandy Beach because some Gypsy types had taken it over. We'll check. If not Glendo then McConaughy

Adin's Daddy Date

Adin and me went for our Daddy Date on Monday. He had to have his camelback and sunglasses just like Dad. We rode 5 miles to get ice cream and then came back, it was great! It was also in mid 70s. Derek, today I went running outside in 80 degree weather. Gotta love it!

Well here is the little red truck. We went to the mountains yesterday and it runs like a champ.

Soccer Girls!!!!

Imagine this...just one day (the entire day) of watching his girls play soccer and Jason (yes, the man I married) heads to the nearest Target and buys them their own soccer ball! He then spends the evening "practicing" with them. It was a long, but fun day! Paige might actually have some talent for the game. She only had enough attention span for the first quarter, but she played really well for a first timer. She even made a goal! Her only down fall was that she had to get a high five every (EVERY) time she kicked the ball! Hannah was great, too, but she is already ready to quit! She said her team lost so she doesn't want to play anymore! Her main goal was to win a trophy and I guess she lost hope when they lost their first game. Shelby's team worked really well together, but lost the game to a better team. Shelby played her very best and did an awesome job. We couldn't get any pictures of Shelby because Alec had a pre-game melt down and made Dad forget the camera. Sorry Shelby!
